EQAVET Annual Network Meeting 2023 to take place on 15-16 of June in Sweden
The EQAVET Annual Network Meeting 2023 will take place in Stockholm (Sweden) on 15 and 16 of June. The two-day meeting will focus on engaging participants in networking activities, with panels ranging from updates on the European Year of Skills, to lessons learned from Peer Reviews, the EQAVET Community, and working groups to delve further into the proposed topics. Croatia hosted the eight EQAVET Peer Review on self-assessment in initial VET
EQAVET Croatian Peer Review

On 1 and 2 December 2022, the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education (AVETAE) held the Peer Review, where seven EQAVET Network members acted as peers – including participants from Finland, Lithuania, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain. The Peer Review focused on the self-assessment process in Croatia’s initial vocational education and training (IVET) system. Discussions focused on the efficiency of the self-assessment model, on the support provided by AVETAE, as well as new ideas and proposals to improve the process for schools and encourage the culture of quality assurance. Finland hosted the ninth and last 2022 EQAVET Peer Review on the quality assurance process of developing national qualification requirements in Finland
EQAVET Finnish Peer Review

The Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) hosted the last Peer Review of the year 2022 on December 7 and 8. The event focused on the update of the Finnish quality assurance processes. The event took place online and gathered EQAVET Network members from Belgium (Flanders), the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia. Peers engaged in conversation about the development of qualifications with EDUFI experts but also with VET providers, business representatives, students and student representatives. Lithuania hosted the tenth and first 2023 EQAVET Peer Review on VET teachers’ expertise for quality assurance
Lithuania hosted the tenth EQAVET Peer Review

The first Peer Review of 2023 took place in Lithuania hosted by the Qualifications and VET Development Centre, on January 24 and 25. This Peer Review sought to effectively promote the certification process and guarantee that the calibre of teachers' work is maintained. In doing so, the event gathered nine EQAVET Network members coming from Belgium (Wallonia), the Czech Republic, Latvia, Romania and Slovakia. Bulgaria hosted the eleventh EQAVET Peer Review on ensuring Labour Market Relevance of VET in Bulgaria
EQAVET eleventh Peer Review - ensuring Labour Market Relevance of VET in Bulgaria

On February 21 and 22, the VET Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria sponsored the eleventh EQAVET Peer Review online. The event focused on four main topics, covering the Bulgarian labour market’s training needs, the identification of tools for data collection on VET programmes, the involvement of social partners and the encouragement of labour market actors to become more active regarding the qualification design cycle. The Peer Review gathered peers coming from nine members of the EQAVET Network – including Belgium (Flanders), Croatia, Czechia, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Slovakia. The Commission published the second edition of the EQAVET Network’s approach manual to VET system level Peer Reviews
The European Commission has published the second edition of the EQAVET Network’s approach to VET system level Peer Reviews manual, which integrates lessons learned from the EQAVET Peer Reviews in 2022. The manual covers the main principles of EQAVET Peer Reviews and provides information on the phases and steps to follow when conducting Peer Reviews. The manual is now available for download from the EQAVET virtual library.

The official European Year of Skills website has been launched by the European Commission. The website compiles contributions, activities, resources, and concepts to advance the objectives of European Year of Skills 2023. Public consultation on the future of learning mobility – share your views
Commission’s public consultation on the future of learning mobility

The European Commission opened a public consultation on the future of learning mobility with the aim of informing the public and interested parties about the upcoming proposal to update the EU learning mobility framework and gather relevant contributions. The call for evidence and public consultation questionnaire is open from 8 February to 3 May 2023 at the ‘Have your say’ portal. The consultation seeks to gather information and participants' opinions, as well as to make it simpler for students to learn about opportunities and transition between educational systems in various nations, so that the key obstacles to participating in learning mobility can be examined. Traineeships: Commission evaluation analyses the impact of the European quality framework

The European Commission has published the evaluation of the 2014 Quality Framework for Traineeships, which assesses its implementation, contribution, and examines improvement possibilities. While most stakeholders consulted agree that the Framework is still applicable, they also highlighted that there is room for improvement in the application of the quality principles, including their monitoring and enforcement. According to the Commission Work Programme 2023, an update to the framework will be proposed later this year. The update will make a significant contribution to the European Year of Skills 2023, as well as give impetus to lifelong learning and activate people in the labour market. New ETF policy briefing published on skills and the green transition
Skilling for the green transition

The European Training Foundation has released its latest policy briefing on skilling for the green transition. It provides useful information on what green transition means, as well as the policy issues surrounding skills required now and in the future. It includes an analysis of the relevant EU policies enablers of the green transition and examples of the green transition in the EU neighbourhood countries. Quality Assurance in VET: Recent national initiatives
The beginning of 2023 has included important developments for several EQAVET National Reference Points (NRPs). The Netherlands has prepared and published three case studies which analyse VET graduate tracking and how graduate tracking can improve the quality of VET programmes in the Netherlands. Additionally, the NRP has also launched a developmental programme for leaders in Dutch Vocational Education. The German NRP has published the English version of the ‘Quality Initiatives of Intermediary Institutions’ study. The Polish NRP organised a webinar on career counselling and the Integrated Skills Strategy 2023 (‘ZSU 2030’). The Slovak NRP organised a learning mobility meeting in Croatia, which gathered Slovak and Croatian NRPs in order to discuss the implementation of graduate tracking measures with other stakeholders. Furthermore, Greece launched the piloting of QA methodology for IVET programmes in the framework of the implementation of the ’Towards an Enhanced Post Covid VET- EPOS VET‘ proposal. Finally, the NRPs from Croatia, Estonia (HAKA), Finland, and Slovenia, are organising a webinar on the benefits and mutual learning in transnational peer reviews that will take place on 21 April 2023.
